"Captain-- Steve," says Charles, from where he's now standing at the head of Barnes' bed. Out of habit, he's placed his fingertips against Barnes' temples, though the gesture is effectively useless; he catches himself a moment later and drops his hands. Perhaps he ought to be afraid of jarring the man awake, given what the Captain's just said, but for as long as Barnes is unconscious, bruised, and bloodied, it's difficult for Charles to reconcile description with expectation. Barnes looks young and injured, not old and dangerous.
